It's called creeping thyme. One of these catalogs might have it...you can order the free catalog online.

I bought this "brand" of ground cover. I found it at a local nursey, bu you can order from them directly online or also search on the site for a garden center near you. (Those choices are on the right hand side menu).

I have several different varietes from them. Like another poster suggested, creeping thyme. Personally this is not my favorite. The root structure is difficult for my ground and it has problems with not getting enough water, I hate to have to water the ground cover.

Personally my all time favorite ground cover is this low growing http://www.stepables.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=55

However a nice thing about this site is that you can go into the plant info area and search by all sorts of desired traits. Low growing, fast growing, water requirements, color, etc, etc, etc.

Great way to pick a ground cover best for your needs. Then armed with this information you can search out this type from a local nursey, etc.

Good luck!

kjkropp has it right. I used to work at a garden center and the Stepables brand has a huge selection of plants that can take foot traffic. They are wonderful and most decent garden centers should carry them. You should at least look at them in the flesh, as it were, befure buying, even if you get buy online.
