If you were living on an island completely alone money would have no meaning. Would evil exist?
If there were two people living on an island, you would still have no need for money. Could good and evil exist?
If there were three people living on an island, there might be a need for money in order for you to trade with two people on different occasions. Does money have anything to do with evil?
Of course money has nothing to do with evil. Evil only exists where greedy and needy exist. Where one person on the island has more than enough to live off, and the other has less than enough to live off. Is evil the person who starves to death or steals from the other, or is evil the person who hoardes more than he needs and does not share?
The root of all evil is greed!

Well the root is what is at the bottom of a plant and holds it in the soil and collects the nutrients to feed the plant and keep it alive.
But if what you're asking is "Is the root of evil money" Then yes in some respects, but really money is what we need to buy things in order to be better than others.
Evil is spawned from wanting to be better than others, gaining power, being in control of others. Power. and money is power and greed is the desire to gain more money, to gain more power. So maybe, power and control is the root of evil.

Let's do the math
First we state that girls require time and money.
Girls = Time x Money
And as we all know "time is money."
Time = Money
Therefore: Girls = Money x Money = (Money) square
And because "money is the root of all Evil":
Money = square root of Evil
Therefore: Girls = (square root of Evil) square
Girls = Evil

The phrase is a misquote--the original phrase is really "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." In other words, if you value money too much, it may cause you to do things which a good person might not do.

If you are looking for a biblical interpretation then it is the love of money that is the root of all evil. I don't think it is though and religious hatred and intolerance come much higher on my list of evils.

Desire is the root of all Evil.
Money has been said to be the root of all Evil however Desire is the primary root.
Desire of money, Vanities and other objects could find you doing things you might not necessary have done(i.e Conflicts with your Moral).
The greater conundrum is to Desire not to Desire is a desire itself.
