Solving a problem definately meant u have answered the question. On the other hand, answering a question doesn't mean you are helpful to solve the problem. =P

Generally speaking, answering a question utilizes information already known, whereas solving a problem requires research or other systematic work to obtain the solution.
i.e. Answering a question such as "what is 1 + 1" most often the answer is already known to be fact. However, solving a problem like, "If 2 trains are traveling toward each other at a constant rate of 20 mph and there is 237 miles of track between them when they leave their stations. It takes 112 feet for the train to stop once the brakes are applied. How far can both trains travel so that when stopping, leaving one inch between both front bumpers? Also, how long will the trip take?

Simple, it is only commitment. Anybody can answer a question in whatever way he likes without any commitment. But solving a problem requires an urge to commit oneself to see that the problem is solved and the questioner gets a benefit out of it.

Well in my opinion solving a problem is just to be off with it so as to save ourself are others concerned from that problem.Answering a problem means to critically analyse the problem and come to conclusion and attain a goal.

Just because there is a problem solved, does not mean there was a question asked. People, egocentric beasts that we are, often refuse to ask for help.

Solving a problem ends in the solution - the solution works - it can't be wrong or it wouldn't work.
Answers can be wrong - they can appear to work but can be misinformed or ignorant of the reality.
Thus you can get wrong answers but no wrong solutions. If a solution is wrong it was never a solution in the first place.
