How do I delete the drop-down list of my past searches?
You can clear your Google search history from the Google search box, the Google Toolbar, or your browser. We've included instructions for all three methods below.
CLEARING YOUR GOOGLE SEARCH BOX HISTORY
The search history that displays in the search box on the Google homepage is stored by your browser, not by Google. Instructions appear below for disabling this search history in common browsers. If your browser isn't listed, we suggest consulting its online support center.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
1. Go to the "Tools" menu.
2. Select "Internet Options" and the "Content" tab.
3. Within the "Personal information" area, select "AutoComplete."
4. Click on "Clear Forms." You can also un-check the "Forms" box in this window to keep this information from being stored in the future.
5. Click "OK" to exit.
Alternatively, you can delete individual entries from your search history by using the Down arrow key to highlight a previous search, then pressing the Delete key once.
MSN
If you're using the Microsoft Network (MSN), changes made in Internet Explorer (IE) will take effect in your MSN browser. After making changes in IE, you'll need to sign out of and back into MSN for the changes to take effect.
Mozilla Firefox
1. Go to the "Tools" menu.
2. Select "Options" > "Privacy" > "Saved Form Information."
3. Click "Clear" and un-check the box.
4. Click "OK" to exit.
Safari
1. Go to the "Safari" menu and select "Preferences."
2. From the menus that pop up, select "Autofill."
3. Go to "Other forms" line and select the "Edit" button.
4. From the list of sites for which AutoFill is currently being applied, select "Google.com" > "Remove" > "Done."
CLEARING YOUR GOOGLE TOOLBAR HISTORY
To clear your search history from the drop-down text box on the Google Toolbar:
1. Click on the Google logo on the Toolbar to access the drop-down menu.
2. Select the "Clear Search History" option.
If you'd like to completely disable your Toolbar's search history, please click the "Options" button on your Toolbar and un-check the box next to "Drop-down search history."
If you have Google Toolbar 4.0 installed, you can clear your Toolbar's search history by starting to enter a search term in your Toolbar's search box. When your drop-down search history appears, simply click the "Clear History" link.
Please note that this only clears the search history from the Google Toolbar, which is entirely separate from the search history stored by your browser.
If you've followed these steps and information still appears in your Toolbar search box as you type, please visit http://www.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=45847 for additional assistance.
CLEARING YOUR BROWSER HISTORY
Like your Google search box history, the search history that displays in the address bar on the Google homepage is stored by your browser, not by Google. Instructions appear below for clearing and/or disabling your search history in common browsers. If your browser isn't listed, we suggest consulting its online support center.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
1. Go to the "Tools" menu.
2. Select "Internet Options" and the "General" tab.
3. Click the "Clear History" button. To completely disable the history function, set "Days to keep pages in history" to zero ("0").
4. Click "OK" to exit.
2. Select "Options" > "Privacy" > "History."
3. Click on "Clear." To completely disable the history function, set "Remember visited pages for the last X days" to zero ("0").
4. Click "OK" to exit.
Safari
1. Click "History" on the top menu.
2. Click "Clear History" at the bottom of the menu.

I know and I have some easy to follow steps:
However, if you wish to delete search history saved by the browser and auto-filled when you type on the yahoo website, here is the solution:
To clear your history from Internet Explorer:
1. Go to the "Tools" menu.
2. Select "Internet Options."
3. Click the "General" tab.
4. Click the "Clear History" button. To completely disable the history function, set "Days to keep pages in history" to zero.
To turn off this feature:
> Open an Internet Explorer page
> Go to tools
> Click on Internet options
> Click the content tab
> Then click the auto complete button, make sure you uncheck every thing in there.
To clear your history from Mozilla Firefox:
1. Go to the "Tools" menu.
2. Select "Options" > "Privacy" > "History."
3. Click on "Clear." To completely disable the history function, set "Remember visited pages for the last X days" to zero ("0").
4. Click "OK" to exit.
This will resolve it all :)
***********
These steps are if you have Yahoo! Toolbar:
If you want to remove all the entries in your search history right now, but you still want Yahoo! Toolbar to remember your searches in the future, do the following:
1. Click the Pencil menu.
2. Select "Clear Recent Searches".
If you want to save your recent searches while you're searching on the Web, but automatically clear the saved searches when you close your browser window, do the following:
1. Click the Pencil menu.
2. Select "Toolbar Options".
3. Select "Auto-clear recent searches when exiting IE" so there's a checkmark in the box next to it.
4. Click "OK".
If you want to disable the feature entirely so none of your searches are saved, do the following:
1. Click the Pencil menu.
2. Select "Toolbar Options".
3. Click "Remember Recent Searches" so there's not a checkmark in the box next to it.
4. Click "OK"
:)

if u're using mozilla firefox, i just click on tools and go to options (to bring up fire fox's options screen). make sure the little privacy icon on the left is selected. from there, you can clear information from each tab individually, but i just go to "clear all information stored while browsing" at the bottom of the privacy screen and it takes care of all history.
if u're using microsoft explorer, click on tools and go to internet options. click on the general tab and then click on the "delete cookies" and/or "clear history" buttons.
this will clear your recent searches for both yahoo and google but it will also clear any other temporary information that has been saved to the computer. i don't know of any other way to *only* clear recent searches.
(u can just set the options in both browsers so it will not retain this information at all. just set the # of days it stores the info, or the amount of disk space it can use, to zero. this can all be done in the options screen for your browser. that way you don't have to delete the information every time u are done browsing)

Tools/Internet Options
There's a History section with a "Clear History" button.
You while there, you might as well clear all other things in sight.
Presuming you use IE.

this method will clear everything on the specific browser you're doing it to:
-go to the top where it says "Tools"
-click on "Internet Options"
-click on "Clear History"
(I always like to click on "delete cookies" and "delete files" also. Some other internet browsers have different internet options formats. Mozilla firefox, for example, you can "clear cache" also.)
Good luck!
