I thought it was just supposed to be white dress shoes that you shouldn't wear after Labor Day.

We usually don't in the North. In the South they do. I was raised not to wear white shoes after labor day. It's just something that I don't do. Now there is a color called Winter White, and Off White like a cream color that you might be able to get away with depending on how you accessorize.

Who said that? I am wearing white. In California, the temperature is still within 100s. What are we supposed to do? Act as it is fall after Labor Day-

Because a bunch of superstitious, fashion conscious ninnies got together and decided that the color white would somehow signify servitude and Chasity and the days that followed and including Labor Day should be a day should be days of debauchery. Honestly, I think it has something to do with the weather and how somehow they think white shoes would make the feet all sweaty and maybe no one wants to smell other people's smelly feet

That's an outdated fashion tip only old women follow. The rule now is wear whatever you want whenever you want. I don't wear white pants, and if I do they're winter white and a heavier fabric.

I wear white shirts but never white pants. I think it looks too casual or "summer". White shirts are a classic though, you cant avoid them when dressing up.
