Area 51 is an area out in the southwest United States where back around the 1950's many people claimed that a flying saucer crashed. The government claimed it was a weather balloon, but the government's secrecy over the crash made many people suspect it to be something else. The US government also has an air base out around that area where some of the new fighter jets are tested. Some believe that what people think are alien ships may just be the latest greatest US fighter plane.

Area 51, also known as Groom Lake, is a secret military facility about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. The number refers to a 6-by-10-mile block of land, at the center of which is a large air base the government will not discuss. The site was selected in the mid-1950s for testing of the U-2 spyplane, due to its remoteness, proximity to existing facilities and presence of a dry lake bed for landings. Groom Lake is America's traditional testing ground for "black budget" aircraft before they are publicly acknowledged. The facility and surrounding areas are also associated -- with varying levels of credibility -- with UFO and conspiracy stories. In 1989, Bob Lazar claimed on a Las Vegas television station that he had worked with alien spacecraft at Papoose Lake, south of Area 51. Since then, "Area 51" has become a popular symbol for the alleged U.S. Government UFO cover-up.

Area 51 is no longer in Nevada they have moved to another location, possibly Porto Rico as the same security service seen in Nevada is now being seen in Porto Rico, Area 51 is a secret site in which they experiment in new technology. Which the US government say does not exist, but you can see it from space via satellite.

I believe Area 51 is part of the Groom Lake USAF base near Roswell, New Mexico, where an alien craft that crash landed near there, was taken to and studied.
Some also beleive that is where the Moon landings were staged, but that is neither her nor there.

It is supposed to be near Roswell and is meant to be a scientific research facility controlled by the American Air Force that conducts experiments on aliens. Apparently during the 60's a UFO crashed into the town of Roswell, there was meant to have been a government conspiracy and the alien landing was all hushed up. Apparently the research facility tries to dissect the alien technology along with the alien. I suggest you watch the film 'Independence Day'.

BTW, it's in NEVADA, not Arizona. Area 51 and Roswell aren't the same.

U2 spy planes, SR-71 Blackbirds, Mig -23, Stealth F-117 Fighters, Tacit Blue aircraft, Stealth B-2 Bombers, Black Manta, Aurora, Stealth cruise missile and more recently unmanned craft.....have all been tested there at the remote Nevada test site northeast of Las Vegas....sorry.no alien craft have been 'back-engineered.'
