Naw, the other families enlisted sonny's brother in law to take him down. The brother in law was mad about the trash-can beat-down sonny gave him. Michael was still in Corleone screwing around with appollonia.

No. Michael was still in Italy when Sonny was killed. His dad, Vito Corleone, was still alive at the time.

I think some people are confused here! Fredo was the one who got shot on michaels order while saying his Hail Mary. Sonny's death was NOT arranged by Michael as he didn't want to be Godfather at all, he had his own life! Pay attention to the storyline people, its a timeless classic and worth actually watching?!

Michael did not kill Sonny. His brother-in-law had him killed because he beat the crap out of him. Michael didn't want the "family business" until after Sonny died. If you seen the other brother's who were left, you would agree that Michael was the best choice.

You buffoon! You blasphemar!! It was Carlo who set up sonny by informing the other families of his whereabouts and then antagonising him by beating up his sister, conny. Michael wanted no part in the family until his father was shot and only returned from obscurity when Sonny was killed. You need to watch this film over and over again until it sinks in.

At the point in the story where Sonny is killed, Michael is on the other side of the world, and he didn't wield or desire that kind of power at that point in time.

no way. sonny died for hammering his brother in law. he was a gangster as well and sold sonny to another family. michael had nothing to do with it.
