My experience? Get on supply teaching lists; get noticed by HR at the Board, by adminstrators at schools, by teachers. Do a good job: act friendly but professional, always politically astute to the professional & personal agendae of those in the teaching system, and those you serve: students & parents. Leave excellent reports for those teachers for whom you supply - reassure them you followed their instructions, but always "add value" with your enthusiasm, your fresh ideas (within professional parameters). You'll get called back; you'll better your chances for finding that position. Be informed on available positions: check the Board's employment website.
