The American people are not stupid. We know this is an election year and many of us - with the exception of the neocons, rights , Bush cheerleaders and warhawks know that suddenly media coverage seems to be getting better and more favorable towards the current screw ups in government.

The news from IRaq that Bin Ladin's #2 has been captured attempt to make the situation in Iraq seem anything more than a bleek failure - dispite the QUIET rising death toll. Almost 2700 US troops have been killed for Bush's failed goals.

Furthermore, gasoline prices are dipping SUDDENLY and SUSPICIOUSLY despite the BP pipeline damage which the news claimed wmight actually cause prrices to rise.

Does the government really think Americans are so stupid that we are gonna vote the way they want us to SO THAT THE DAY AFTER THE ELECTION, everything can fall right back into sh!t?

The American people are NOT stupid, I agree.
The White House Press Office is slanting the news so that it will be favorable toward the war and the President right now and after the election I believe that we are going to have a much bigger mess than we have now.

For my part, I am going to pay attention to what each candidate says and really listen to them. I am not depending on the media to tell me whom I should vote for. I am looking for a candidate who will set a realistic time table for bringing the troops home and stick with it. The President is the Commander in Chief--not some general even if the general in question has four stars on his shoulders. I am also looking for a President who will protect the environment and really help the people who were affected by Hurricane Katrina instead of waiting around for somebody to tell him "Mr. President, now would be a good time." I think that they did this and FEMA was too late with the help. I am also looking for a President who believes in keeping America's defenses strong without starting a war. I want a President who wants to live at peace with the rest of the world.

Things always go "great" just before election time. Its a practice used by politicians for years. Unfortunately, your assumption of American people's intelligence is a bit optimistic- otherwise, the politicians would never employ this practice in the first place. People believe whatever they hear (I call them "sheeple"), and expect more "Wins Against Al-Qaeda" and dropping gas prices until the elections are over. After that, it will be 6 months ago all over again.

I think people should depend on a reliable source for the war in Iraq: The Iraqis, and the soldiers. I couldn't care less what anyone else says.
