I went to the ER and they did lot's of test and ultrasounds. They said everything looked fine and they could not say why I was bleeding, and that it was quite normal! Is this true has anyone else spotted in pregnancy and everything was ok? My husband and I were "together" saturday morning, could that have caused bleeding? We have decided not to have sex until the baby is born after this. I have an appt. with my regular ob today.

Don't worry about the bleeding if they said everything is fine. Some women will spot. And yes sex will/can cause you to bleed and that was probably the reason why. When I was pregnant I would spot after sex. Not everytime but sometimes. I have a healthy 3 month old! As for giving up sex...you dont have to. Unless your doctor advises you not to because of a problem, sex is ok during pregnancy...even if there is some spotting.

Spotting during pregnancy is fine. I actually had enough spotting during my first pregnancy to pass off as my monthly cycle, which only lasted 2 1/2 days and light. I finally missed a cycle, took 4 home tests to show that I was pregnant. Two weeks later, I went to the doctor thinking that I was 6-8 weeks and found out I was 24 weeks! And my daughter was born with no problems. Easy pregnancy. It is always stressful when you see the blood during a pregnancy, but the best thing to do is to stay calm (getting anxious can cause problems) and talk to your doctor about it. The doctor will let you know if you have any reason to worry. Having sex during pregnancy is fine, the doctor will let you know if there could be a complication to it, As you get further, you have to watch the positions that you get in, but sex is safe through almost the entire pregnancy. Congratulations on the pregnancy!

First let me say some bleeding is possible during this time, my wife had it more than once. I feel it is great you are seeing the doctor, I feel that stopping sex unless told to by the doctor is not the way to go. Talk to your doctor today about it, and most will agree with me unless there are problems. Sex should be great during this time, after all you can not get pregnant, you already are! It might have been just the way you were "doing it". Did you feel anything odd? Sometimes you just need to find different ways that are less likely to cause this from happening, or the doctor like with us may give you an amount of blood to get worried about. If you do stick with the plan to cut sex out, then find someway to help each other out, vibrators, oral, and so on so that you do not loose interest with each other. Good luck, everything will be fine.

Well, I'm so glad to hear that you went to the ER, that's what a responsible woman does, and not wait for a bunch of stranger on the net to tell what is obvious. If they said everything is fine then there's nothing to worry, and yes, sex could have caused it. There's no need for going without it the whole 9 months though, just ask your husband to be more gentle and take extra care for now, the first trimester is the most delicate, but after that the risk of miscarrying diminishes a lot, so dont cut away all the fun!
Good luck honey

I had this problem. I bled and spotted both from about 6 weeks to 10 weeks. The doctors blamed it on a low implantation. I was told to abstain from sex and hopefully the low implantation would correct itself. After about 10 weeks the spotting stopped and at my next ultrasound, the doctor told me that the implantation problem was no longer an issue. I'm now 30 weeks and things seem to be going fine, thankfully *knock on wood*. Just do what the doctor tells you, and if they look on the ultrasound and see the heartbeat and things are OK, you can pretty well trust that. Hang in there - it is scary! I know!

I've had a lot of miscarriages, all before 12 weeks though. But I bled during 2 of the pregnancies (before the miscarriage actually took place), and they couldnt find a reason for the bleeding either. You should be ok. My mum bled a lot during her pregnancy with my little brother. I was told not to have sex at all during the first 12 weeks with the unknown bleeding, but was told it'd be ok after that. Try not to worry hun, that wont do you any good

The sex could very well have been the cause for the bleeding. During pregnancy the cervix becomes are easily irritated and when you had intercourse your husbands penis probably irritated your cervix and caused the bleeding. Your OB will be able to tell you more but you should be fine.

The sex could have caused it, but I know plenty of women who have spotted throughout their pregnancy and nothing was wrong with them. You dont have to cut out sex unless your doc. says so. I would ask him when you go if that is for the best. Trust me I wouldnt stop unless I had to, it can be very relaxing when you are pregnant. Hope that everything checks out okay for you!

The best thing to do is consult your regualr OB and she what he/she says to do about the bleeding. It is normal for some women to have spotting during pregnancy.
