JLo and Daddy Yankee both talked about it at the VMA's.

It's going to be Reggaeton, Latino Pop, Latino Rock, etc.

I think it will be cool. What do you all think about it?

I'm so excited about it!!!! In Louisiana we only get Univision on our cable services (unless you pay extra money for a complete Spanish language channel package), so I don't really get to see many Reggaeton, Latin Pop, Latin Rock and etc videos on my TV. Hopefully this channel will keep me updated on what's hot and new in the Latin genres.

I think it will succeed because it will gain so much exposure! Yes, the music is in Spanish, but as Daddy Yankee would say, "Music is universal". I'm a non-Latino and my Spanish isn't 100%, but I can still really feel the lyrics & the music some how!

AND yes, I just happen to be one of the non-Latinos who watches Despierta America & other Univision programs like Casos de Familia, Tu Desayuno Alegre, Casos de la Vida Real, and etc. But I don't know, maybe I'm in the minority . . .

If all they plan on playing is reggaeton and latin-inspired music, MTV3 will either fold or switch formats pretty quickly. Most reggaeton has spanish lyrics and the rest of the United States doesn't want to listen to music they can't understand. Case in point, how many non-Latinos sit around and watch 'Despierta America' or 'Republica Deportiva'? Yes, Latinos are 18% of the U.S. population and a major economic force, but reggaeton just doesn't have the market to be very profitable. For those that want to point out BET, BET was playing rap and hip/hop for years before MTV jumped on the bandwagon. Besides, rap and hip/hop are a part of U.S. culture just as much as Elvis Presley and Leave it to Beaver. Until you hear blacks, whites and Asians blasting reggaeton in their cars I wouldn't bet my money on the network lasting too long.
