Take a couple of ibuprofen before you go to relax the muscles a little bit. Not comfortable but not excruciating either. Good luck.

they've been scraping me for the past 2 weeks!!!
here's the deal:
-it's pretty uncomfortable. it doesn't HURT, but after a moment or two you just wanna tell them to get their hand OUTTA there!
-afterwards you will most likely have some spotting. last time my OB scraped me i lost my mucus plug and i had a good bit of bleeding. it's normal and it's just getting things stretched out and ready to go.
-if your spotting is like a period bleeding, then go to the hospital.
-the spotting comes from the engorged blood vessels in your cervix and they rupture from the manipulation. it's o.k. it's along the same lines as your gums bleeding or nose bleeds while pregnant.
-one thing i do recommend....wait to have this done until you are at least 38 wks! my OB checked my cervix for dilation at 35 wks and the spotting etc, freaked me out!
so, if you aren't full term(38 wks) i would ask them to keep their hands to themselves until you are full term. any manpulation up there can possibly trigger labor.....
take care and it's o.k. you can opt to not have it done if you're concerned!!! it's your body and pregnancy, just remember that!

the ibuprofen idea is very good, take 2 before going. It will be a little uncomfy but not unbearable. Are you pg? why is the dr doing this to you

No it doesn't hurt, they will give you an injection of lidocaine first, it feels really cold and kind of hurts, but after that you won't feel anything.
Make sure to rest for the rest of the day though.

Do you mean scrape your cervix like a pap smear or are you talking about stripping your membranes??

it will hurt like there is no tomorrow. Not only today, but it will burn for about 4 or 5 more days
and it probably won't work either
