First of all, don't do anything until you hire an entertainment lawyer first. Get the lawyer to review the terms of the contract to make sure that your interests are met (and that the contract isn't just one-sided in the record company's favour) and there isn't anything in the contract that would come back and bit you in the a** later. Also check around to see what the reputation is of the company that wants to sign you. If everything looks good, then you can sign it and drop out of school.
The thing is few opportunities come by like this. Once it's gone, it's gone. With school, you can take courses anytime and finish it anytime you want.

It's probably not the smartest thing to do since going to uni is always the better thing in the long run, but yeah, if I were offered a legitimate contract with a reputable record company, heck yeah. I figure that if things didn't work out, there's still time to go back to school. It's easier to take those kind of risks when you're young than when you're older. There's still time to get onto a different track when you're under 30.

When there's an opportunity, go for it! However, you can continue your education in so many formats these days, your education wouldn't suffer if you chose to obtain your high school diploma. Online Education is one of the fastest growing trends as is homeschooling. GEDs are also available.
Yes, I would drop out for the record contract and continue my education in one format or another. I wouldn't want to get screwed by the Record Executives. I'd need more information on laws and practices of the industry.

SURE! why NOT drop out, do your record, become a "ONE HIT WONDER" live off the royalties, do some signings, do a few concerts, hit the bottle and drugs, go to rehab, get out, write a book and become self important and dictate to your few adoring fans what to wear, say and do. Sounds lovely. Then again, you COULD finish school, get into Julliard, STUDY music, and make a life with music. Or then again, go ahead, drop out. Maybe you can put "Would you like Fries with that?" to music.

hell yes! if it doesnt work out you can always go to college and finish off your highers/ a levels
make sure you get a lawyer to look over the contract fr you to make sure you are not getting into something that will not be for you benefit......remember what happened to george michael and prince! (got caught in contracts that were not for their benefit and did not even own the rights to release music under their name on another label until their contract was over)
