beach/sea sand has not enough properties such as high compressive strength,high tensile strenght, Etc., so they cannot be used in the construction purposes.. the sea sand cannot be taken dry like river bed sand... this also a reason for this..

Beach sand or sea sand (sand taken from under the sea) can be used for construction.

When concrete cures, it forms long crystals that grab onto the sand and gravel that forms the rest of the concrete. The inclusion of large amounts of organic matter and/or salt will weaken the bonds. For this reason sand containing salt or organic matter needs to be washed clean before it is used.
For construction purposes, the sand that is used is specified very closely as far as organic matter, salt and other contaminant content is concerned.

Beach sand has usually been fairly well cleaned by the pounding of waves but may contain enough salt that it needs to be washed.
Sea sand will probably contain a lot of organic contaminants and will need to be cleaned of these. The cost of cleaning sand must be considered against the cost and availability of sand from other sources.

Taking sand from beaches or dredging sand from the sea bed obviously has environmental impacts which need to be considered in addition to the purely financial costs involved in obtaining and cleaning it.

it depends what part of the construction industry.....there are areas where dredged beach sand has been used as fill but most fills must be contained......and be able to be compacted.......if you look at rocks or gravel...around you you see two definate shapes....round or broken cracked......under a microscope....you see a closer look at this surface area.....a sphere has most surface area....but if spheres contact each other v they don't have much area to touch or rub.....cracked and broken particles bind much more solidly....and if the sizes are so much different....large and small...to dust size there is much more surface area to transfer a compacting load........most ocean sands are well tumbled and rolled....so theyare quite rounded...they have rubbed each other untill the edges wear off....a hard rock always wears down a softer....it is true of vegatable content and salts....every metal produces salts...and much metals have been washed to the sea...all rocks can absorb a small amount of water and sea sand does to.....wet sand weighs more than dry....and cracked sand makes a good filter......think about these things.....glass is moulten sand...sand is used as a cleaner as in sand blasting............on the whole there must be uses....if it can be cracked.....but you can see concrete made of marble shapes wouild not be strong........yet not all concretes need to be that strong.....some cities have used a combo of portland cement and sand...andclay and soil..to make a firmer pad that would support ..parks and landscaping....good luck

because sea sand has higher salt content than normal sand
and if the sea sand is desalined it may be very costly and
tedious process.

Since the land is near to the sea, it wouldnt be much difference between the level of water below the land... so, the land below can slowly get eroded from below and finally the land level could as well become the sea water level...

The sand does not bind and stay fixed. On drying, it will break.

Maybe because it is full of salt and salt is errosive? Never thought about it.

it's dirty and too coarse. need finer particle size
