When they induce you the first step is usually cervadil--a suppository that is inserted by the cervix and it releases prostoglandins to ripen the cervix. Prostoglandins are also found in men's semen. Have sex and have your partner ejaculate inside you. Also, nipple stimulation will release oxytocin---the natural form of pitocin the induction drug. Nothing will work if your body isn't ready and intercourse and nipple stimulatin are both natural and safe. Good luck.

Try doing some exercise. I've heard semen ripens it (it contains prostaglandins, the same thing that causes period cramps), so have sex. Also, nipple stimulation (produces oxytocin) and there are a lot of websites that say evening primrose oil can help ripen the cervix (but not bring labour on.)
Try looking at this question but I wouldn't suggest using the blue and black cohosh, I've heard that it's not safe in pregnancy.

By the way, I don't think you'll need any help once they induce you. it usually produces a shorter, sharper labour. The baby will only come when it's ready. Make the most of your time by resting as soon you won't have ANY time for yourself!!! Good Luck and congratulations!

well I am a mother of two/ 7year old and 6 month old! When I had my first born it happened because me & my husband were having sex. I was due in 5 days. my current baby came out 2 days before being due. People say that you can climb stairs, have sex, walk. But in the end your precious baby will come when he/she is good and ready!! The very best of luck to you! Congratulations & remember BE BRAVE!! God BLESS!

Have you tried walking? I remember when I was pregnant getting close to my due date, my Ob suggested I start walking as much as possible so I can start dilating. I must've walked around the block dozens of times in the last couple of weeks before my daughter was born!

HTH!

i am sure the md's have told you to keep off your feet...well, not true at all! in order to induce you should be excersising even if just a walk down the street. i have also experienced eating spicy food helps. i remember eating cajun and i went into labor that night!

good luck with delivery and congrats!

There are all types of "myths" out there. When the baby is good and ready, he will come out. If he stays past his due date, the doctor can help things alone safely!
