I went swimming this morning, a guy in the water was naked. The world did not end. It is weird this society condemns the normal ordinary human body as disgusting and evil, I wonder why it does. What exactly is it thats evil about our bodies and why is it the business of the criminal law to enforce such nonsense against adults who don't believe that way? Freedom, does it actually mean anything or is it just one more empty word.

So if I read the responses right, it would be OK for beautiful people to go nude swimming but not unbeautiful ones. Oh and the cultural level of the country has to be at a level that won't be upsetting for impressionable children. And you guys are fine with that. So I guess freedom is BS, isn't it?

Hey...I'm a girl, 21, very attractive and spend lots of time everfy summer at the nude beach. Does that mean it's OK for me to be naked but not physically unattractive people? That's simply unfair and really points out how hung up we as a culture are about physical appearances.

Granted, the fact is that some people are more physically attractive than others. But I've seen both types at the nude beach...awesome looking young people in the prime of their physical bodies (both guys and girls) and really fat, wrinkled old people whose days of beautiful bodies are long gone. I may not be attracted to look at this latter group, but they certainly have as much right to be naked on the beach as i do.

Bare hugs...

True freedom is an illusion. There will never be any society where you can do whatever you want whenever you want, with no regard to your fellow human being. No one lives in a vacuum; everything we say and do has the potential to impact others, so any ordered society must have at least some rules for the protection of the masses. As for the issue of nudity, that's a tough one to get a hold of because you'll find all kinds of nude paintings at museums, yet it's not kosher to sunbathe or swim naked. Personally, I don't have a problem with it, but I know most people in the U.S. do. That's why I think the general rule should be don't sunbathe or swim naked, but if you're on your own property where no one can see you or if you're at a beach or camp that is clearly posted as a nudist resort, what's the problem?

Because many communities outlaw public nudity.

There is no rational reason that I can see for it, but the argument is that it is part of the general decency and morality laws. I cannot understand how such laws serve any legitimate govt interest (and legitimate church interest don't count).
