assuming a steady jogging pace of a 12 minute mile:
12 x 26 = 312 minutes
312 minutes divided by 60 = 5 hours and 26 minutes and approximately 15 seconds.
If he runs faster or slower the answer will be different.

Does he have a pet hamster? On a leash or unleashed? How many sunflower seeds does he have?
It depends on the hamster. A 42 year-old hamster will run 26 miles on a fairly level terrain in medium-bad weather conditions, in about the same time that a 42 year-old man will take to run 26 miles on a fairly level terrain in medium-bad weather conditions.
I hope that answers your question. All the best!

I'm 44 and play 5 a side etc, but I'm probably a stone overweight. But I can run comfortably on a machine for 20 minutes or so at about 6 miles an hour. With a few months training, I would say that I could keep that up, so could do the marathon in about 5 hours.

When he was 41, John Campbell of New Zeland ran 2:11:04 at Boston which is a hilly course.
When I was 42, I ran 2:54 in Chicago on a very windy day, on a very flat course.
I did not place in the age group, so there were a significant number of 40 year old males that ran faster that day.

assuming the 42 year old man is used to running marathons, first check his previous times.NOTE: if he has never run before, he will never finish this journey.
If he can average about six miles per hour he will finish in about four or five hours.
