Ewido is an excellent program and is in no way a scamware. It does remove malware and has a free version and plus (commercial) version.

Ewido should never be used alone as to have good security you really need a whole battery of software.

Unfortunately with todays malware it is important to use a whole battery of programs to get adequate protection. These are my recommendations, all of which are free but still excellent products:

Antivirus:

Avast (Free) : http://www.avast.com

Antitrojan:

Ewido - http://www.ewido.net/en/product/

Antispyware/antiAdware:

Firewall:

And a tutorial on good practices on staying safe on the internet:

If you think you may be still infected after using the below programs and want an expert to help you for free, you can post a hijackthis log at my forum. Instructions for doing so can be found here:

Hope this helps.

Just use the free spyware programs. They are as good as the paid ones. Run both Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and Skybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/) to remove any spyware. Run both as one may caught something the other missing.

Then go to microsoft.com and download Defender to protect against future infections.

If you are still having problems getting a spyware removed, boot the computer in Safe Mode and then run both Ad-aware and Spybot. To get into Safe Mode, press the F8 key repeatedly during bootup until you get a screen giving you Safe Mode as an option.
