The hedge is approx., 3 metres high. It is required to be removed and replaced with a fence. It is in the garden of an elderly person and I don't want it re-growing and destroying the fence.

I love leylandii and it looks great if kept cut to a nice hedge. But 3 metres is against the law now, can be no taller than 6.6 feet. Cut to ground level. Drill holrs and pour on bleach, sump oil.

Cut the tree's close to the ground, drill lots of holes in the remaining trunk, use 'Root Out' available from your local garden centre. Cover with a plastic bag if you have children or animals, as Root Out is harmful.

Done now the rotting process will get well under way, and the trunk will be almost gone by spring.

Cut it off and remove much of the root as possible. Alternatively you can cut them to a stump and buy a solution that is sucked in and kills the remaining stump and roots. I need some for my eucalyptos but I don't know what it is called
