Michelangelo Buonarroti painted the ceiling of the Sistine chapel and the paint pigments used then were made with lead, arsenic and other toxins. Michelangelo is believed to have lost his vision several times during the four years it took to paint. 1508-1512
He later painted the last judgment over the alter 1535-1541.
It is believed he died young due to poison from his beautiful colors.
Many of the Renaissance Masters met this fate.

I don't think michelangelo died in this way as he painted the sistine chapel ceiling between 1508 and 1512, he died @ 1564 i think. i do know in his own words he was to leave "his soul to God, his body to the earth, and his material possessions to his nearest relations." I will try to find out more!

Michaelangelo. There is a classic movie about him painting the Cistene Chapel. A very good movie.
