Yes, it's called SSJS. No, it's not called AJAX. AJAX is something completely different.

Yes, you can. It's called JSP. Java Server Pages

But it isn't JavaScript as you know it. It's more similiar to Java language than it is JavaScript language.

Addendum: If you want to do completely javascript server-side programming as the previous poster mentioned SSJS is probably your only choice. JSP is similiar to javascript and shares similiarities with javascript but as someone mentioned and as I have stated above, it is not javascript. However JSP IS a very popular choice for server sider programming and the learning curve from javascript is less steep than other languages because of the similiarities.

Sorry to contradict you but JSP is not server side javascript. JSP is however using java as a server side language. Javascript and Java share the same name but they are completely different languages!

Yes it can, you have to specify the server side language to "Java script" while scripting your ASP pages
