It was prophesied by Agabus.

"Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. "(This happened during the reign of Claudius.)

The Bible is so fuzzy on its predictions you can say it predicted anything. Like the "psychics" of today, they can't tell you anything usefull; it's too vague. Remember when Regan was supposed to be the anti-Christ because of the spelling of his name?
When was the last time some catatrophie was averted by someone opening up their Bible and alerting authorities (or book on Nostradomus,or whatever)?
