Well I Use It To Wake Me As Well. What I Do Is Put It Right Next To Me On The Bed. Next To My Pillow. Does The Job Every Time.
My Phone Is Low Too. So If Yours Is Loud This Should Work.

Make sure that the alarm is activated or enabled. Just because it appears on your phone doesn't mean it's actually on. Also, I suggest activating a second alarm for 15 minutes or so after the first, just in case you turn off the first alarm. Sometimes, I'm so sleepy that I don't even remember that I've turned off the alarm clock. If you want to leave the phone on vibrate, put it on top of a piece of hard plastic or wood - something that will make a louder noise when the phone rattles, rather than a soft surface. Also, despite the phone volume some ringtones are louder than others and I would suggest a ringtone that resembles standard alarm clock sounds rather than a song-type of ringtone.

1. Make sure that the volume is on max and on vibrate.
2. Get a backup, such as an alarm clock to go off at the same time.
3. As you are falling asleep, focus on the time that you need to get up, it helps your internal clock wake you up.

You can purchase a "Garage ringer".They are sold at phone accessory stores or at Radio Shack. They are used by mechanics or shop owners. They have an external ringer that is VERY LOUD .

Or, you can get an accessory that makes a lamp flash when the phone rings. You can find these at stores that cater to Senior citizens.

A third option is a external speaker that can be programmed to make like, Emergency sirens, cow moo, rooster. Those productscan be found at "AS Seen on TV" stores

OK it vibrates so you need to pump up the vibration, put your phone wherever you put it, as close to you as possible but make sure you put it on a CD case or better still inside a tin.... make sure that whatever you put it on or in is metal or light plastic, that way the noise of the vibrations will scare you awake.

I have the same problem and I hang my alarm clock about six inches above my head on the head board.
Maybe you could wear a winter hat to bed and put the phone in there.

I lost a bus for Amsterdam for the same reason... so to make sure you are awake at the right time, ask someone to wake you up, especially if you are very tired the phone is a bad ideea...

Thought this one hit close to home my brother used to sleep so soundly that he missed calls all the time which were important to his business so i hooked him up with an attachment for his phone designed for the deaf which flashes a light in addition to the ring, we set up a fairly powerful halogen aimed right at his bed .......hasn't missed another call
