I would like to think that if I was faced with such a horrible choice that I could follow through with something like this. I place high value on the lives of those I love & though I'm sure that we are all treasured equally. In a moment of decision such as you suggest, then yes. I value their lives more than my own, & I think I could overcome my personal survival instinct.

It's hard to say, until the heat of the moment... Because no one ever consciously kills themselves to save someone else - when they do it, they're usually thinking that both parties will survive and live happily ever after, or just simply that they don't want to see harm come to that other person. It's instinct and impulse. No one weighs all the options before trying to save someone from danger. Plenty of people have died trying to save someone they didn't even know. I don't think you can really say that the life saved, in any case, was worth more to the saver than his own. Worth doesn't enter into it.

Yes, I would because this is the greatest form of love you could do to someone, even if that someone is only a friend. All I would ask in return is to not waste the time I give him and to remember me.
I'm not crazy, it's only the way I am: forgiving, loving, compassionate, etc.
Some also say that if you save someone's life: your souls will always be tied together by friendship like two parts of the same soul.

I don't suppose anyone really knows the answer to that until he or she is face to face with it, but I'd like to think I would. I certainly believe that trying to cope with the guilt and shame, not to mention the grief, of knowing I could have saved them had I sacrificed my life, would make for a very sorry existence.
