A. It takes a BIG python to eat a person, even a child. This is an incredibly rare occurance.
B. Pythons have few social instincts. They do not seem to demonstrate anything like loyalty or devotion, memory, etc.
C. Keeping large snakes loose in a house is really stupid for many reasons, including that it is not the best thing for the snake itself- drafty, no good warm nests, etc.
D. Keeping large snakes is pretty dang dumb in the first place (it is almost always a 'macho' or show-off pet, not a real companion animal). These poor guys are abandoned or killed or released most of the time once the owner realizes what an incredible pain they are to feed or care for.

Pythons don't "turn"
Even in the wild if its eaten well you can walk up to it. They don't become socialized the way other animals do, they just are how they are anywhere else, so as long as they are properly cared for and fed, they shouldn't want to eat you, but may try anyway if they think they need the meal and you look like you're the right size.
Irresponsible pet owners who leave animals unattended probably deserve to be eaten, and the snake should get a prize :D

Even if the python is kept as a "pet" it is still an animal and should never be trusted unattended, espeically to roam around the house. Gah!
However, if the snake is fed properly, it should never be a problem, but again, this is a wild animal and animals can be unpredicatable. Same applies to dogs, cats and birds. They all have instincts and they act on instinct, not reasoning.

I have and read that turtles can recognize their owners and its true. I or someone else can place my turtle on the floor in the middle of me and my friends and every time he looks around and comes to me. and a turtle has a smaller brain than a python.

ours isn't big enough to roam the house, yet...only about 5 feet...
(ball python)... all 4 of my girls handle her, she's always been well fed and we make sure the girls don't smell like rats! as long as she's not hungry, there's very little danger...they can sense whether or not "food" is too big for them to eat...even though their brains are tiny...it's called instinct...

Pythons have a brain the equivalent to a pea.
They have no attachment to humans, and will eat anything it can fit into its mouth.

Yes, It would eat you. Pythons have brains way too small for such concepts as loyalty. Hell, even a dog will eat you if it has to.

Wild animals are just that, wild. A snake will eat anything it can squeeze in its mouth.
