The minium wage is $5.15 per hour, and that took effect on September1,1997 9 years ago. with the rising costs of gasoline, and just everything in general, where is the initiave for our high school kids to get a part time job, and help support their "wants" to the families who can't afford to pay that extra 30-40 dollars to go out to eat and catch a movie.

The federal government should not set a minimum wage. Each state has its won standard of living so each state should (and pretty much does) set their own minimum wage. Besides the establishment of a minimum wage is clearly a "states rights" issue.

If the state you're in is at $5.15 an hour that is the fault of your state officials, not the federal government.

Raising the federal minimum wage is done during a recessionary period to hide inflation. The economy is good, unemployment is low, so there is not likely to be any action taken on it anytime soon. (Nor, as I pointed out, should there be any taken.)

You are asking if anyone knows the future, and then you proceed to complain about inflation, wonder why any high school kid would bother to get a job to help pay for "wants". If you want to ask a question, then do so and ask one that can reasonably be answered. If you want to ramble or complain, go buy a shoebox and stand in a park.

Never as long as the Republicans are in office, because they are for the businessmen and the businessmen surely don't want to pay higher wages. As long as the CEOs can get their big fat bonuses and contribute to the party, they don't care about the average person trying to get by.

When hell freezes over? And what are you doing spending money going out to eat and seeing a movie? If you have expendable cash, then maybe you don't need a raise.

That issue has been raised in congress as of late. Maybe a minor presidential issue coming up?
