To answer intelligently I'd need to know the history.
Is this a new relationship with your boyfriend or have you been together for a while? Is she being phazed out for him? Does he or your nephew not like her? Is she a pain to be around at the beach or other public places (complaining, loud, fussy)?
How often have you been to the beach together in the past?
Does she automaticly invite you to everything she does? Does she feel you "owe" her?
Has she been taking advantage of your generosity of late and did you feel you needed a little rest?

Did you talk to her about it? (or at least try to?) Did you not invite her on purpose to get her mad or something? If not, and all you wanted to do was go with your boyfriend and nephew, then you have the right to. You don't HAVE to invite her.
If she's really upset about this, and she won't even try talking to you about it, then maybe she isn't such a best friend.

Have you been neglecting your friendship since starting to see your BF? Maybe she feels left in the dust, but her reaction IS kind of lame. Let her know, either via email or voicemail (since you can't seem to get a hold of her otherwise) that she is your best friend and you'll always be there for her, but she also needs to understand that you are in a relationship, therefore things can't be the way they always were as your priorities have changed.

Sounds like she's pretty upset over not being invited. Give her some time, and when she starts talking to you again apologize, and tell her you had no idea it was so important to her to go that day. Ask for her forgiveness, people love it when you grovel.

Maybe she is going through something right now and just needed a friend. Dont worry... If she is a good friend, she'll come around and realize that you two are too good of friends to let this come between that.

She feels left out, sounds like she might be insecure. you might want to call her and talk to her about it and reassure her that you are still her friend!!
