It depends on how old your child is.
THere are many things that your child can do.
My mentor's children has been taught that running a business is important since young. She is 8 years old now and runs a lucrative jewellery making business and has plans to expand online ;)
I think more important than not, it is the what the parents think and do to encourage the child to do business and not what business the child can do.
My other mentor would buy erasers and sell of at higher profit when he was in primary school.. enterpreneurs are a creative lot of people.. just brainstorm with your child! The possibilities are ENDLESS!

My two favorite businesses in my youth were...
Mowing Lawns
Picking and selling fishing worms (night crawlers)
Both are summertime jobs.
I had friends that delivered newspapers, but you have to get-up super early to do that...and these days, media companies prefer to hire adults with automobiles.

mow lawns, clear snow, do a news paper rought, baby sit smaller kids, mine have done them all. one of my sons wanted a game and called around and mowed lawns, and make $80 in one day because he wanted the money bad enough.
If you mean really little kids, have then clear the table, pick up toys, My 7 year olds job is to take the laundry hamper to the laundry room. any thing that they can do, to releave you of doing it,
