I dont' think it will ever be as big as football or baseball, but I think it could get as big as hockey and maybe even basketball. The biggest detriment is that MLS is boring in comparison to how games are played in Europe. The players just aresn't as good, but teams are beginning to model their training pipeline after European teams, so the quality of the player will continue to improve.

Soccer is the number one sport in the world. It is more popular and generates more revenue than the NFL and NBA COMBINED!
NFL games have 60,000 or so people at each game. Any premier league game has 100,000 plus fans in attendance, and they stay the entire game, not leave in the forth quarter when the team is loosing by three touchdowns. The yankees are the most expensive team in the USA, but most of the teams in the Premier League are valued at more. Manchester United spends more and makes more money than the yankees, steelers, patriots, redskins, redsox, or any other team in the U.S. Soccer is big in the USA, it is just not televised. There are more children playing soccer than any other sport. The world Cup is the most popular tournament in the world. More popular than the Super Bowl or the World Series.

it is the world's most popular sport, and as far as it being big i think so, it's getting bigger in the states now, it's the fastest growing sport in the us, and one day it might not be the biggest sport in the us but it wil be up there once a few factors come into play, like us national team playing in a world cup final even thou i think it's generations away, and turning the mls, like all other major football(soccer) leagues, with a relugation zone, which means they would need a second division... it might take some time but it's working towards that.........

not "supposedly", it is the biggest sport in the world.

they are trying to make it big over here, but the MLS sucks. I like soccer, but the English premier League and the spanish La Liga if far better than anthing the MLS can bring.

Saying that, I will never like any soccer more than the NFL.

If you pay the pro's the same as Basketball or Football then yes it would make it big. People have a lack of understanding for the sport and most don't want or care to understand.
