My friend and I have been screwing around with the tuners for a while now, and at certain points there is just too much noise generated. I have an iPod and he has another type.

All I have in my two cars are CD players, but he has a cassette.
I found a cassette adapter from my old sony car discman, and he tried it and it works excellently.

So if you have a cassette, that would be the cheapest and best route. Radio Shack probably still carries them.

Well, a lot of head units now play MP3's. You could probably go to Best Buy or somehwere like that and pick one up for less than $150. Another option would be to use an iPod or other MP3 player if you have one. Depending on what you drive the wiring clip and mounting hardware should be about $20 or so. You may also need an antenna adapter which would bring it up a little more.
