See, someone charged $18,000 in my name. Either they got a car loan, or opened up a credit card in my name or something. I don't have a checking account, I don't have a savings account or credit card. I haven't taiken out any kind of loan. So, how do I prove that they opened an account or got a loan in my name? I keep calling the bank that took up the collections. It says it was a balance of $almost $10,000 but that there are interest charges of almost $8,000. Since I hadn't gotten any bills or tried to get a loan or anything I never got a credit report or anything. What if this person forged my name, how would I prove it isn't me? I'm on the phone right now waiting for this bank to answer my call. I have been on hold for almost 2 hours and haven't even spoken to a real person yet! I was on the phone Friday for almost two hours, then I had to go somewhere, I never talked to anyone then either. i'm worried and confused.

Stay on the phone until you contact someone....it is your life....Tell them this is a case of fraud, and that they need to send you paperwork so you can prove it is not your signature. Contact the Social Security Administration and let them know of possible identity theft, and they will start to investigate it!!! You need to get on it quickly or else this will ruin your credit. Also, contact credit agencies, and write a response on your credit report that says this is identity theft, and that you are working to correct the problem. Good Luck to you, it is a long road, we had to do it too. It can work out!!! Keep your head up :0)

Check your credit report. You can get a free report from http://www.annualcreditreport.com

If you find any other accounts that is not yours dispute them all and put a fraud alert on your account.

Some states allow you to freeze your credit report if there has been fraud. No one will be able to see it.

You're losing points by posting another question that's related to your previous one. In the future, you may want to just 'add details' instead if any clarification is needed.
