As you may already know from my other question, my friend was doing my hair and when she was putting it up she accidentally caught her fingernail under my earring.(I had just gotten my ears pierced Saturday night.) It hurt so i ran into the bathroom and cleaned it, and turned it, and then left it alone for a while. After that i noticed that that ear looked a little bit 'fatter' than the other one. I thought it was swollen. It was not fat before it happened. In my other question alot of people said it sounds like its infected. It does not hurt, and it is not red. It just looks a bit 'thicker' when i tilt my head up and look at both of my ear lobes at the same time in a mirror. The other ear piercing is doing PERFECT, it never hurt at all, it is very easy to clean and turn,. This happened yesterday afternoon. That night i took an Ibuprofen to make the swelling go down. Today it is still 'thick' but it is not red or painful. What should i do? Is this very bad or will it be okay?

Thanx

It sounds fine, just keep cleaning it and give it a few days. Its probably just irritated.

unlikely that its infected...the body will swell around a wound to protect itself from bacteria entering the body (this is why any piercing swells) and you may have just tore it a bit. Keep an eye on it and it should be fine, also turning it will only cause further irritation-your body does not grow onto the jewelry-and may pull crustie bits into the piercing.

If it hurts to turn it, then it may be. When you clean around it, look to see if any yellow colored stuff is coming off on the cotton ball or q-tip. The yellowish stuff would be infection

if it was infected it would be yellow pus and red and sore
