The theatrical release. Part of the point of the movie was the monotony of their lives. Dante won't 'get off the pot' - he won't put any effort in to change his life, to go back to school, to fix his love life, etc. Every day is the same for him and Randal. With him getting killed in the first cut, that breaks the cycle and gets him out of his life. The theatrical cut ends with them saying they will see each other 'Same time tomorrow...' and as Dante survives you assume they will go through the same bizarre rigmarole every day for the rest of their lives.

(Oh, and what are some other people on about? Sounds like they've only seen Clerks 2... y'know the number is there for a reason, i.e. there was a film before it!)

I prefer the first cut but I prefer the ending of the theatrical release. I felt it fitted better with the tone of the whole movie, besides if Dante had been shot they would've had to make up some rubbish story in order to have Clerks 2

Dont know which one is which, but Clerks 2 is very good. Randall is class and Jay and Silent Bob are as good as usuall.

I take it you are taking about Clerks by Kevin Smith

There are a few performances I really liked: - Angela Bassett in "What's Love Got To Do With It". They could not have cast that role better. - Dwight Yoakam in "Sling Blade". He gave me chills, and not in a good way. - And, believe it or not, I think former New Kid Donnie Wahlberg is pretty good. He's overshadowed by his brother, but I thought he was good in both "Ransom" and "The Sixth Sense".
