my last period was the 1st of august i have been trying for a baby with my partner
on the 31st august i slept with someone else and today 5th september i got a positive pregnancy test
surly there is no way i could be pregnant to the other person when it was only 4 days ago
please help i am really worried

If you usually have regular periods, then it's highly unlikely that you're carrying the other man's baby cause you would have ovulated before you had sex with him.

Yes there is a chance to get pregnant even if you were expecting your period tomoorrow, but in your case you are pregnant with your partner, because: "Positive pregnancy test depends on the amount of pregnancy hormone hCG in your urine, and the amount can be different from one woman to the other. Sometimes a urine test may be positive as early as 12 days or so after ovulation, that's 1-2 days before you expect your period. But if the urine pregnancy test is negative before you miss your period, that does not necessarily mean you aren't pregnant. About 98% of home urine pregnancy tests will be positive 15-16 days after ovulation and fertilization, or 1-2 days after you miss your period. A blood hCG test may become positive as early as 10-12 days after ovulation".

If you aren't some silly little girl then why on earth are you having sex with another man when in fact you are trying to have a baby with a different man?

It is unlikely, but possible that you are pregnant by this other bloke. Unless he's of a different ethnic group than your boyfriend, then a DNA test is the only way to know for sure. Get yourself checked for STD's as well. You wouldn't use a tampon that someone else had used before, so why have unprotected sex? It amounts to the same thing!

you probably wouldnt be pregnant by this other man as it normally takes at least 2-3weeks for the pregnancy hormone to show in any type of test. and i can completely understand where your coming from with this, i went through the same situation 2 and a half yrs ago. dont worry! thats the worst thing to do now you are pregnant

In truth it could be either person you slept with, the probability that its your partners baby rather than the other guys is higher, but you can 'catch' pregnant at any time between periods.
If I was you I would come clean to your partner, better to hear it from you now than someone else later.

Did you have sex with your partner around the middle of august? If so, then this is the likely time you conceived. It is highly unlikely that it is the other man's baby. However, maybe you should have a little look at yourself and your relationship with your man if you were willing to sleep with someone else.

I don't think so. If your cycle started on the 1st, then you should have ovulated around the 13-14th. And you'd be a few pregnant now. Do you use a fertility monitor? And did you use protection w/ this other fellow? A doctor can tell you more accurately

The tests are usually quite reliable if you did two tests you'd virtually be 100% sure of the result.
I don't think you're preganant from the other person because you had sex with them outside your fertie window
(The fertile period goes from the start of the second week to the middle of the third week of your menstral cycle).

Ur not pregnant by this other guy, because the hormones that are present in a woman when she is pregnant, would not show up so soon after. Ur doctor will let u know anyways hun, all u have to do is let ur doctor know the date of your last peroid and he'll let you know the date you concieved.
Also in general, women get pregnant two weeks after their peroid, so work it out!
