It's taxed just like your regular income is. It's gross earnings that are added to your normal work's earnings. So if you make 60 grand a year and then win 100 grand on a tv show, that 100 grand is added to your regular income. On a federal level you'd be taxed that year for 160 grand, yet the 100 grand will also be taxed as regular income in comparrison to the taxing regulations for the state you won it in. Just hope the game you win on is in one of the 9 states that don't have state income tax!!!!
