I'm at this stage right now...
I think adolescence is the turning point in your life. I also think that it can make or break a person temporarily or permanently based on your decisions. People tell you to grow up when you act immaturely, and people tell you to don't act like such an adult because you aren't one yet at the same time.
It's full of contradictions and confusion, you feel like no one else knows what you're going through. It not only seems to last forever, but you spend part of the time lamenting about 'wasting' your childhood.

To be an adolescent is to have 'grown into a stage higher than child and towards adulthood.' - Getting 'self-conscious' with approval and disapprovals from oneself as also others --
Awkwardness and anxiety are the two most common reactions from the adolescents...

Honestly,it sucks.It has good parts,of course.
The good parts are that you experience new feelings, live new experiences, that you haven't felt or live before. The bad part is that you are moody, sometimes have no idea what's going on with you and be sad for no reason, and in the next moment have a great laugh...the big mistery,adolescence...
anyway, the first chapter of your novel...

Emotional and sometimes physical pain. Revaluation and realization that the world is much more different then what they expected.
A constant struggle to find one's way in life. And a open door to many temptations.
Constant desire to be free to test everything, and sometimes choosing the wrong choices.

The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives himself, he becomes wise. — Alden Nowlen

To be too old, and yet too young... anything wrong I do, they say "you are not a kid" and again, when I want to do something, " you are still not old enough"
