I already have a boyfriend, but he lives in London and I live in the US. We've been in this relationship for nearly a year and I really care for him and want to meet him in November or Janurary.

My mom has been trying to hook me up with locals around where I live but I honestly have no interest in them. The guys are attractive but I just have no desire to date on the side while I'm in a long distance relationship with someone I care about. I view this as being pointless for myself and unfaithful to him.

Why doesn't she understand this? Is there ways I can deal? I've tried telling her that I am not interested but she thinks I'm some kind of freak for not wanting to see guys on the side while in a long distance relationship...

she just wants you to be happy. you haven't even met this guy! she is just looking out for your best interests. and how do you know he doesn't have a girlfriend there? just because he says he doesn't , he can be lying. so don't be too hard on your mom!

This used to make me mad when I was younger, also. Now that I have my own child, I understand. A mothers love for her children is almost like a madness. It consumes you. You want everything to be perfect and safe for your kids. The Internet (where I'm assuming you met your current boyfriend) is both a horrifying and wonderful thing. There is no possible way that you can know that the boy you are talking to is who or what he says he is. He could be a 42 year old balding fat guy with a thing for young girls. I bet that terrifies your mom! By trying to hook you up with local guys she is just trying to protect you.

Who knows he could desire to be great lovable. additionally you're saying "you do not desire to pass with a guy like that." what's incorrect with a clever nicely rounded guy?? Who knows you adult adult males could desire to purely click.

If you ever become a Mom, you will understand. She only wants good things for you. There may be a little selfishness in there on her part.....maybe grandchildren?
