If I like reading Nicholas Sparks novels, what other authors would I enjoy reading? I don't like Sandra Brown or Harlequin type romances, I like clean love stories.

Keith, I have the time traveller's wife on hold at the library. I've wanted to read it for almost a year now!

I'll recommend my favorites. Some of them have explicit love scenes but none of them are so obscene that they make you wanna puke.Read the reviews at Amazon or other sites and

Rebecca Paisley-A basket of wishes.
Its about a fairy Splendour who is ordered to marry a human( a duke). The poor hero is confused by the woman who will shrink if not kissed regularly, drinks apricot face lotion. On top of that he is harassed by splendour's sister who even turns him into a snail. His cousin Emil thinks that Splendour is exactly what the doctor ordered for the staid ,boring Jordan.

Mary Balogh-Lady with a black umbrella(Funny romance). The heroine is always rescuing the hero-whether he wants to be rescued or not.

Lynsay Sands-A bride promises her father that she'll obey her husband 'always'.I mean 'always'.The poor groom didn't know what he was going to get when he was coarced to marry the king's daughter.

Anne Gracie-The perfect rake. The heroine just wants to save her sisters from their abusive grand father. However one lie led to another and another. The hero was perfectly willing to go along with the charades.

Tracy anne warren-The wife trap
You belong to me-Johanna lindsey
A dark champion,Born in sin-Kinley Macgregor
Angel rogue,One perfect rose,The wild child-Mary jo Putney
Mary Balogh-Slightly tempted,A famous heroine,The temporary wife
The de burgh bride-Deborah Simmons
Isn't it romantic-Ronda Thompson
How to treat a lady-Karen Hawkins(and the rest of the Talisman ring series)
Lord of the storm,The sky pirate-Justine Davis

My favorite is a very old classic...have read and re-read it many times. Try it.. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Also, Now Voyager which was made into a movie starring Bette Davis. The old ones seemed to have more style and less trash.

If you like historical romance...clean being the most important factor...try Eugenia Price. Her books are great. Savannah is probably my favorite, but there are many others to choose from. It's hard to find a "clean" romance novel set in modern/contemporary times.

The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffeneger is by far the best I have read in the last five years. Unusually it is also startlingly original.

Read almost anything by Judith McNaught. Her books range from historical to modern day and she writes wonderful short stories, too. The exception, a book that I disliked, was Tender Triumph.

one of my all time favorite romance novels is The Penwyth Curse by Catherine Coulter. It isn't trashy like some rmance novels, and it has an actual story to it.

Hope you enjoy it.

Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. It's a classic and was made into an amazing movie by Alfred Hitchcock.

I suggest you read, if you haven't already, "The Bridges of Madison County", by Robert James Waller. I don't normally like romance novels, and this is one of my favorite books ever.
