Remedy is very simple but gradual.

To begin with, take initiative calling your existing friends and acquaintances over phone, personal visits or whenever you see them - saying hello to them first. When in conversation, and the conversation is not boring to you, keep fuelling the topic now and then by saying small things in between.

Once you feel that you are finding it interesting with some or all of them, promote interacting with those persons more at your own initiative, if required. Let me caution you not to indulge emotionally or so deeply with those persons whom you could not leave later. Your objective is to be a balanced extrovert (atleast not introvert) person.

Then comes the stage initiating with altogether strangers and by test of time, making good friends out of them. Once you perform reasonably well as aforesaid, you won't face much difficulty in handling strangers as well.

As I said earlier, it would be gradual but with sure desired results with your continuous practice on this art. Again, do keep a line of good decorum in your behaviour to earn respect and dignity.
