what exactly does it mean to say in the blue? not that colour !?

I've hear of "out of the blue" meaning from nowhere, or all of a sudden, or unexpectedly.

i haven't heard "in the blue". I have heard "in the pink" and "in the red". I have also heard of being blue, feeling blue, which means feeling sad.

means randomly or like "where did that come from"
