Because they thought they deserved more. It was the responsibility of Mayor Ray Nagin to get everyone out of town. After the storm passed he still did nothing and only Governor Kathleen Blanco could have the authority to call out the National Guard due to separation of powers from the Federal Government. The people that complain about the generosity of others not being enough are targeting the givers when they should be holding their own inept politicians' feet to the fire. There was a shirt I saw on the news during Mardi Gras and it read "Drink 'til Nagin makes sense". They've been brought up in a culture that allows these same politicians to screw around for a year, take the money and NOTHING still gets done.

I agree with fellow Louisianans and say come down here and see for yourself.. I've been in New Orleans, Sildell, and most of the westbank, and yes, The damage is beyond Belief.. But don't forget the people of the other side of the state...How many remember Hurricane Rita???? The great people of Cameron Parish lost everything they had, The towns of Holly Beach, Johnsons Bayou, Cameron itself, wiped off the map.. They asked the Feds (FEMA) for help, they have give them some, but not a lot, but you still arnen't hearing them cry out for more help, These people refuse to let that bother them, and they are trying to rebuild thier lives as far as they can.. I don't know excactly why the people of New Orleans are still griping, look at your fellow Louisianans on the West side of the State and take a lesson from them....

I really dont think that those people have an ungrateful attitude. It seems that it took so long for them to get rescued. The ones that I've seen are really grateful that they are alive and that they even made it out of there. I think that many people believe an injustice was done. I think that people need to understand that change doesnt occur over night and the best is yet to come. Patience is the key.

Maybe because they still haven't truly received the help they need? It's pretty hard to be grateful when you don't have an address. Give the people a chance to get their lives back.

Besides, money given in donation is freely given, so I don't really see that anyone should expect gratitude anyway. I'm sure people like Ellen DeGeneres (who has done so much to raise money for the relief fund) don't expect gratitude. They just want to see results, ie. people getting housing, employment, etc. Just imagine if it was you......................

It's the welfare mentality and the entitlement state that most of these people have lived in for generations. They've never had to think or do for themseleves. And let's be specific, it's the people from New Orleans who are the ones doing the most complaining. But, these are the same people who elected, and then re-elected Ray Nagin.

I think maybe it is because many of those unfortunate people who had lost everything had to wait many months before they were set up with a home for their family or for food and money. Because of the devestation of many families, many are still waiting to get something for their loss. I wasn't able to make it down there to help but those who did help, I applaud them for doing whatever they could.

Well first of all not all feel that way. We have a subculture in this country that refuses to take any resposibility for themselves. I don't think the government would do a damn thing for me if my house got blown away in a storm.

Because they are looking at their situation through negative eyes. Many people have had their houses completely rebuilt and live in better places than what they did now. All things come with time.
