if you mean increasing the liklihood of genetic mutations nuclear war does that as nuclear radiation is more likely to affect chromosones and genes that can cause defects or cancers. But it's far more immediately dangerous for these long term effects.

Been playing "Resident Evil" again, I see.

As several previous answerers have said, there are no biological or chemical processes that can change you or me into "genetic mutants" upon exposure. Doesn't work that way.

However, there are a number of ways in which someone can cause genetic mutations in our offspring. As said before, high doses of radiation can cause problems -- but it doesn't have to be from a nuke. Several chemicals are also known to be mutagens -- probably the most infamous of these is Thalidomide. And certain viruses can get into the body and cause trouble in genetics.

But a weapon that would change you or I into a freak mutant -- unh-unh. No way, Jose. Can't happen.

If you're a mutant, something went wrong before you were born. If you want to become a mutant, I hope you believe in reincarnation since otherwise it's too late.

But you probably already are a mutant since you have appr. one billion nucleotides in your genome, and it would be a very rare coincidence if none of them mutated during gestation. But most likely, whatever mutations you might have don't have much influence on you health.

If people who have malignant mutations in only a few of their cells count as "mutants", then a "mutant" is basically the same as a cancer patient. As the first poster noted, a nuke does the job.

The only kind of weapon that would cause mutations are nuclear weapons. The radiation from nuclear weapons would be most likely to cause cancer in certain individuals that were exposed, but so-called 'mutants' (people with altered DNA) would not be seen until the generation of people exposed to the radiation actually reproduced. Reproducation is a very complicated process, and any errors in DNA/genes/chromosomes could cause serious birth defects.

The M (or mutant) bomb. Rumsfeld is working hard on this as it was so effectively used on his own family around the time he was born.
