Since we had a great tragedy that day, and people died wrongfully, I think it would be fair to honor those who died and make it an official national holiday. Then again, having labor day on the same month may very well make it impossible for the government to actually accept that.

Definitely not. A lot of atrocities have been committed in this world's history and 9/11 is not the worst. The others don't have holidays so 9/11 shouldn't. That doesn't stop it from being remembered and respected of course, but a school holiday is just taking it too far. Besides, moving on and living a normal life despite terrorist intimidation is the best way to deal with it. If we stopped normal life every year for 9/11 then it would be like stopping normality for terrorism, which is giving in.

I don't think it should be a national holiday. Yes, it was extremely tragic, but then we'd have to consider a holiday for the Oklahoma City Bombings, the FIRST World Trade Center Bombing, the USS Cole bombing, and possibly all of the other airplane crashes we've had. Some people are going to disagree with me because 9/11 conjures up so many emotions, but by making it a holiday, you'd be upsetting the families of the incidents I mentioned above because those families might consider that their dead relative isn't as important to our country as a 9/11 victim. They ALL died at the hands of madmen, and they should ALL be remembered.

No, it should not be a national holiday. We need to move on with our lives, not look back. If it becomes a national holiday, it will become another excuse to eat too much and get drunk like Memorial Day.

It will eventually be a national holiday, but for the time being, it doesn't bother me.. I would rather not stay home and watch TV all day and get depressed.

Yes, it should be a holiday. In fact there is currently a petition for people who think it should be:

Sounds great, It could be another day like Memorial or Labor day that nobody eventually even thinks about what the day means just another day to miss school or work and get drunk!

I think it would be nice, but not just to get out of work and school, the problem with people is that they forget these tragedies, and that I guess is human nature, but we have to remember to pay respect for those who died. Come on now!!!
