If it is an Optical Mouse Change the Batteries and reset it with the button underneath. If it as a ball take it out and clean it.

Lol at previous. Try cleaning the rollers if it's a ball type. Otherwise let the cat play with it, a little exercise will stop it from freezing.

It might need to be cleaned. Turn it upside down, unscrew where the ball is. A lot of gunk get built up on those little bars inside and the wheel, you'll see it. I usually take tweezers and clean mine, just pull the stuff off.

see if the usb port has slipped out if not check on computer to c if settings r ok if ok u may need a new mouse

check the connection bewteen the cord and the back of the comptuer it may be loose. also the connection between the wire and the actual mouse may be wearing away.

If is a wireless, check the spring connections to see if they are making contact, with the batteries.
Had a "rat" doing the same thing, is what I did; that and $1.69 will get you a cup of coffee. (my opinion)

Unscrew where the ball is and clean out all the junk inside. dirt gets wrapped around the wheels and it makes it hard to use.
