I am specifically looking to know the rent for a studio / 1-bed apartment about 30 mins travel from Dublin Post Code 2.

How is the public transport facilities there? How much does it cost per month?

How much would be the grocery bill per month?

if you're looking for somewhere about 30 mins travel form there I'd advise moving to Kildare or Meath, you can then commute on the train or bus, both are very frequent. otherwise you are going to end up paying a fortune for food, fuel and rent in Dublin. It is VERY expensive in comparison to out a bit!
I can't comment on other Counties but I know that public transport in Kildare & Carlow is wonderful especially for those commuting to Dublin.
You will get a bus or train every 15 - 20 mins to the city at rush hours morning and evening.
Rent for a one bed apt will vary anywhere from €650 - €900. This is for the counties mentioned above, Dublin could be anywhere up to €1200 for that one bed, particuluarly the area you are looking at which is city centre.
Groceries will cost in the region of €50 per week for one person.
And also bills will add but electricity isn't that expensive, I pay around €130 every 2 months (that's 2 people ina 1 bed apt.)

Hope that helps, mail me if you need anymore info and I'd be glad to help.

Whatever you do, don't live in Meath or Kildare and commute-that's a GRIM option. Most of the city proper is within 30 min of Dublin 2. For a single bedroom or studio flat you are looking at €800+ per month-look at Daft.ie for ideas. Groceries are more or less on a par with other European capitals esp if you are shopping somewhere like Aldi. Public Transport's great is some places (like on the DART or Luas lines) and patchy in others-you pay more to live by the trains. Yes Dublin is expensive but no more so than many other cities and it is great place to live-best of luck and enjoy this beautiful city!!

ec14 is a bit dramatic and also must regard caviar as a basic food. You should get a reasonable aprtmnt for 1600 euro in Dublin.

I think Dublin public transport is not bad, considering. There are heavy traffic jams because silly people keep using their cars and making it harder for all of us to get around.

Basic food for one person does not cost 150 euro a week.

It is an expensive city but I hate exaggeration. Living in a vibrant city like Dublin doesnt come cheap but its cheaper than London.

D2 is the most expensive city centre area in the county. rent WILL be more the 2500Eur a month. basic foods will be more than 150 a week. transport in Dublin is terrible with public transport relatively non-existent. don't bother. from a dub
