I have a 54mbps wifi home network. When i try to watch videos stored on my desktops hardrive, on my laptop, they are very slow and choppy. Shold i get a faster network?

It sounds like your signal strengh isn't good enough. You are streaming the video over the network and many things can make it seem chop up.

What kind of connection does windows tell you have? "excellent" "very good" "good" "low" "very low"?

your best bet might be to copy the video over to your laptop first, then watch it.

then you might want to try to get closer to the router

finally, buy a better wireless card for your laptop

Try connecting through a wired network and see if that helps...it will run at 100mbps.

try a 'streaming video player' like VideoLan. It works very well for me..
