No. You'll never develop your foot properly if you only use dance sneakers. Neither you can develop proper technique because you can't feel the floor in them.
Dance sneakers are for experienced dancers when their foot is already developed, when they know what they are doing. Dance sneakers are not designed for ballet, however, many people like how much cushioning they provie. One can use dance sneakers to mark the steps when memorizing long complicated choreography.
Anyway, don't you think that thick sole would be getting in the way all the time? Ballet shoes are probably more comfortable.

The importance of ballet slippers over dance sneakers in the class room is the amount of articulation the foot has. It is also very important to be able to strengthen the foot in class. Sneakers have too much support. the platform even on the best dance sneakers put you on the flat ball of your foot. You want to be able to get higher onto your toes when need be(not on the tips like on pointe shoes, but just further onto the toes.) Plus, if you are doing speed work, the lighter, lither, slipper will allow you to have cleaner beats.

Definitely not. There is a reason they make ballet slippers in the first place. If you didn't need the shoes, they wouldn't make them. You can get inexpensive ballet slippers and many are available online. Look into Capezio or Bloch brands, although there are many others!! I have taken ballet for 18 years now and can't imagine trying to do it in dance sneakers!!

NEVER! Do you think you could wear ballet slippers to Tap? That's the same thing! Your feet need to be able to articulate. Dance sneakers aren't good for anything.

Nope! Sorry, but you really need the specialized support that ballet slippers offer if you're going to be learning anything at all or doing any dancing. You wouldn't play the goalie for the ice hockey team without the proper gear would you? It's the same need--you need the proper gear!

Are you in pointe or basics?
Basic ballet could probably be done with dance sneakers, but not pointe.

No. Sneakers limit the total range of movement that a slipper would allow.
Could you "get away" with it....no....just wear socks if you can't afford ballet slippers.

I don't know how strict the dance instructor is but, I'm pretty sure that the answer's "no" to that one though. You need to go to a dance store or go online and order some ballet slippers.....they don't cost much

No. It won't work. You might be able to get away with jazz shoes. They are usually black or brown and somewhat resemble ballet shoes, just without the hard toe tip. Is this for high school or something?
