The rubies are really heavy but not shiny. Should I polish them by tumbling or do I cut them, or what? HELP!!!!!!

It all depends if you have any lapidary experience or not, either way you should take them to certified gemologist and have them appraised, then decide what to do.

You could polish them in a tumbler, but do not attempt to cut them. Have a professional do it, or you run the risk of ruining the stones.

i heard that they heat the raw mineral to like 10,000 degrees to make the colour uniform, a really rich deep fluid color..

i have no clue how that would be done in a non commercial way. 10k degrees, man thats a little toasty hehehe.
