You don't need to drain the pool. Let the skimmer, filter and vacuum take out the majority and then just shock the pool. The heavy chlorine dose will oxidize any remaining contaminents.

the chemicals take care of the bacteria, but you might want to either drain it or use the pool vaccuum to clean up the...ah...chunks.
