I don't think it will - it is on the list of parks for sale by the Six Flags corporation. I personally think they have too much $$ invested in all those roller coasters to just give it up to developers. Besides, LA County needs the tax revenue and Santa Clarita would love to woo them to annex into their city. So neither of those agencies will give it up without a fight

There is no way in the word that they spent a billion dollars for Kingda Ka. I don't understand how you got that. It costed around the $50 million mark even though it was supposed to be a lot cheaper than that. Delays, and poor structure by Intamin caused this.

Anyway, yes Six Flags Magic Mountain ***IS*** up for sale. This isn't a rumor anymore!! I doubt that the company will find an owner for all these parks as one. The reason is because they are selling them as a bundle of parks, and not just one. If they were to just sell this park, then for sure it probably would go away. The land is very valuable over there, and the new guy thinks that the park is "teen" orientated for any of his family friendly activites to go on plus there is Disneyland only located 30 minutes away.

Doesn't it make sense that Six Flags Magic Mountain is one of Six Flags most attended parks (3rd in all), and yet the chain wants to get rid of it?? This isn't too smart Six Flags.

there are many rumors about that. most likely they will close it down because six flags is spending a lot of money just to keep these park up to date. they recently invested a billion dollars building kingda ka which is located in Jackson, NJ (i live 10 minutes from there and i am always there) and they basically remodeled that whole theme park. it is getting very costly to keep everything up to theme park standards. you have to realize six flags is competing with universal and disney. Disney of course being the most richest and powerful company will spend anything just to satisfy their guests. they can spend that kind of money but smaller coperations such as Six Flags can't and that is why they are closing down a few just so they have enough money to expand their coperation. and if Magic Mountain closes i am pretty sure that another Six Flags will open in the area. Once their stock rises they will have enough money to either re-open or build another park.

right now no one is for certain if they closing down but you should go there one last time if it is closing

It's not set in stone. The owners are thinking about selling the 250 acres to a variety of perspective buyers. I read that the reasoning is that the sales have drastically decreased. And that's for a couple reasons, it's way out in the middle of nowhere. Even LA people don't want to drive to it. And it's hot as heck! Plus, it's a magnet for hoodlums and those such people...a couple years back there were shootings if you could remember. That really hurt their business.
BUT...the good thing is it's still undecided. So cross your fingers...hopefully they won't close it and sell it off!!
